I was particularly impressed with the little details that set them apart: coffee delivered to your tent every morning and a large basin of warm water delivered to your tent at the end of every day to wash and freshen up. Every meal/snack was filling, without being heavy, and delicious. The gear was not the only thing that exceeded expectations. I work in the outdoor tourism industry and I can attest to the fact that the equipment (tents, sleeping bags, pads, mess tent, toilet tent, etc) are not only top-of-the-line, but I would argue they’re likely the highest quality that I saw on the mountain. I was also very impressed with the quality and level of service I received. They really cared that we all made it safely to the top. The attentiveness to my group’s well-being with health checks, daily check-ins, and detailing each day’s plan created an environment where I knew we were being cared for and not just pushed through for the sake of it. Their smiles, encouragement, professionalism, and kindness color every memory. The views and sense of accomplishment are amazing, but I come back, time and again, to how wonderful the staff was. When I ruminate on my experience climbing I think most about my interactions with the crew and guides more than anything. I could not have been more impressed with my experience climbing with Kilimanjaro Sunrise.
